Terms of use

The terms, short.

Lampside is free, on-device, and ours to maintain. These terms are the legal frame around that. Plain language where possible.

1. What you’re agreeing to.

By installing and using Lampside (“the app”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t install the app. There’s no account to close because there’s no account to open — uninstalling is your “reject these terms” action.

2. What Lampside is.

Lampside is a text-based meditation app. It is not medical advice, therapy, or treatment for any condition. If you’re struggling, please reach out to a qualified professional. Lampside is a quiet companion, not a clinician.

3. Cost.

Lampside is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no trial timers. The brand promise of “built free” is part of these terms — if we ever change that, current users will be grandfathered.

4. Your data.

Everything Lampside stores is on your device. We do not operate servers, do not collect analytics, and do not have a backup of your data. See the Privacy policy for details, and the Data deletion page for how to remove your data.

5. License.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Lampside for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

6. Brand assets.

The Lampside name, logo, wordmark, and visual identity are ours. The Cormorant Garamond, Manrope, and JetBrains Mono fonts are licensed from their respective authors under the SIL Open Font License. The Phosphor Icons set is licensed under MIT. Phosphor, Google Fonts, and the open-source libraries that power Lampside each retain their own rights.

7. No warranty.

Lampside is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We’ve tried to make it stable, calm, and bug-free, but we don’t guarantee it. We don’t guarantee the daily reminder will fire on time on every device, that the chime will play, or that the breathing animation will be perfectly smooth on every Android model.

8. Limitation of liability.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the makers of Lampside aren’t liable for any damages arising from your use of the app — including loss of data on your device, missed meditations, or any decision you make while using it. Lampside is a quiet text app. It’s not a safety-critical system.

9. Termination.

You can stop using Lampside at any time by uninstalling. We can revoke your license to use the app if you breach these terms (e.g., by reverse-engineering or republishing). There’s no notice period — uninstall is enough on your side, and the next app update could pull a violating user’s ability to function on our side.

10. Changes.

If we update these terms, we’ll change the “Last updated” date below and post the new version here. Material changes will be flagged on the app’s next launch. Continued use after a change means you’ve accepted the new terms.

11. Governing law.

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Lampside team is registered. Disputes should be resolved informally first — email [email protected] and we’ll do our best to sort it out without a courtroom.

12. Contact.

Questions about these terms? [email protected]. A human reads it.
